Secunda woman cares for 27 rescued and abandoned cats

Ms Laura Parker’s love affair with cats began more than two decades ago when a friend handed her an abandoned and scared black and white kitten.

Ms Laura Parker’s love affair with cats began more than two decades ago when a friend handed her an abandoned and scared black and white kitten.

10 years ago a box of six abandoned kittens crossed her path.

She found forever homes for five, but Pinkie eventually came to stay.

She currently cares for 27 cats of all ages and sizes.

They are rescued cats, mostly from industrial and mining sites, brought to her by her three kids, family members and friends.

Ms Parker knows each one’s heartbreaking story – from being tossed away in a box, to being covered in tar and being on the brink of dying.

She lovingly and painstakingly nurtures the injured animals back to health and makes an effort to give each one individual attention.

She is against breeding and encourages people to rather adopt. She hates it when people neglect or abandon their pets.

Anyone who wants to support Ms Parker in her venture, can visit her Facebook Page, KitHeart Cat Sanctuary.
