Sasol is willing to engage with locals

The eMbalenhle Community Forum wants locals to be prioritized.

The eMbalenhle Community Forum has vowed to intensify their protest by mobilising the masses from the municipal area to protest against labour brokers for Sasol in demand of jobs to be given to locals.

The disgruntled locals took to the streets to protest in the early hours of Thursday, 8 February and targeted workers who were not from the area.

Buses taking people to work were also targeted.

The protest came after the forum has had several meetings with Sasol during which they demanded jobs for locals.

This was a follow-up march after the one they had in February last year when hundreds of unemployed locals, mainly the youth, held a protest at the Sasol Charlie 1 gate in desperation of employment.

It continued in December when the forum was accompanied to Sasol’s head office in Sandton by the Black First Land First movement and submitted their memorandum.
