Fingers are being pointed as to who is to blame for the mess in the Evander CBD

Businesses are complaining about empty beer bottles in front of a club and are not sure whether it is the party-goers or the homeless people who hang around the area that are causing the mess.

An uninviting sight welcomes you when you enter the CBD near a bank in Evander.

Businesses are complaining about empty beer bottles in front of a club and are not sure whether it is the party-goers or the homeless people who hang around the area that are causing the mess.

Business owners are blaming the club.

“I cannot control people who bring cooler boxes and drink near the club,” said Mr Ernest Ngwenga, owner of the club.

“I am therefore responsible for what happens inside my club.

“The club is barricaded around the entrance and we have been operating for two years without any complaints.

“Those empty bottles are mostly quarts and we only sell dumpies.

“The business owners who have a problem with the club, are welcome to come to me so we can engage and find a way forward if the club is contributing to the mess,” said Mr Ngwenga.
