There is calm after the turmoil at Davies Court after some residents had received eviction notices.

These notices were served on 13 December and residents and their loved ones were upset as some of them had nowhere else to go.

Although the topic of the letter read:

“Intention to terminate lease contract,” it was mentioned later in the letter that residents had 30 days to move out.

According to the committee, the letters came from Govan Mbeki Municipality that owns the building.

The committee is from Davieshof and their role is to help the residents and do so on a voluntary basis.

“We only followed instructions from the municipality,” said a committee member at a meeting held on 20 January.
