N17 highway closed outside Trichardt after accident

The body of a motorist is still trapped inside his Nissan X-trail after it collided head on with a truck on the N17 highway between Trichardt Dam and the Tubelisha-offramp earlier this evening.

A third vehicle was also involved in the accident that happened at about 7.30pm. According to Mr Gunnie Prinsloo from StratconRisk, the driver of the police’s forensic team is on the scene.

The body of the deceased is still inside the overturned car. Mr Shayn van der Heever of Langamed Services South said the driver of the truck did not sustain injuries.

The man in the third vehicle already left the scene via private transport. ER24 alerted Zello users that the N17 will be closed for about two hours.
