Sibonokuhle Pre-school visited Bethal Police Station as part of an educational and career tour
Children learn more about police work
BETHAL – They were welcomed by the social crime prevention and communications officer, Const Thomas Mogadime, who took them for a tour through the police station and the holding cells.
The children were overwhelmed with joy when they entered the community service center to see what officers do daily.
Const Mogadime said he was happy to spend time with the kids.
“I am passionate about working with children. This passion began when I was still in school when neighbours’ kids asked me to help them with their school work, reading and public speaking skills.
“We cannot compromise children’s safety and we must make sure they feel safe at all times. We must also encourage them to report any form of crime or abuse to the police.
“It is important that children interact with members of the police and other role players in the law enforcement and emergency services sectors, so that they know where they can go to in case of an emergency.
The children were also informed about crimes against children and how to report crime to the police.
