Eskom warns of unplanned power interruption in GMM

Sasol mine, eMbalenhle and Graceland Casino are affected.

Eskom said in a statement teams are currently performing repairs on equipment that failed at the Eskom Sol substation around 9am this morning, 6 May.

The interruption of power supply affected the following areas: Middelbult, eMbalenhle township, Graceland Casino and Sasol underground mine (Middelbult Mine).

“Eskom remains committed to ensuring that customers have continuous supply of electricity.

“Eskom will prioritise restoration to Sasol Mine followed by the rest of the affected areas.

Restoration time for all areas is estimated around 7pm tonight, however the situation may change as the investigation into the root cause of the failure is still in progress.

“Eskom places a high value on the safety of its customers, contractors and employees. We apologise for any inconvenience which may have occurred as a result of the unplanned outage.

“Customers are advised to treat all electricity lines and wires as live during any power outage.

“Eskom customers are further urged to report electrical faults at 08600 37566 (24hrs) or text their query and account number / meter number to 35328.”Please report electricity theft anonymously to the Crime Line: 32211 (R1/SMS).”
