EVANDER – The chief whip of the Gert Sibande District Municipality, Mr Trevor Nkosi, handed over a Wendy house, toys, chairs mattresses, a gas heater and learning material to a day-care centre at Enkomeni Farm in Ward 17 recently.
Mr Donald Green from Govan Mbeki Municipality’s communications department said the children were happy to receive the toys because they now have something to play and learn with.
Mr Nkosi said helping children is an investment because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
Ms Marry Mavuso, founder of the day-care centre, was thankful for the goods and requested other stakeholders to help where they can.
The centre takes care of 27 children aged between six months and five years old.
Ms Mavuso began the centre after she found that many children were wandering around on the farm.
