Graceland helps rural school located outside Kinross
We wanted to make sure that the school at least had a kitchen that was equipped to provide the kids with a nutritional meal
KINROSS – Embidini Combined School, located just two kilometres outside of Kinross, recently received upgrades to the value of R150 000.
According to Mr Jeustun Scheepers at Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club who headed up the project, the school was found in dire need of these refurbishments, after a site visit was made to the school earlier this year.
“What we found was an unhygienic area which was used as a kitchen to cook meals for the learners, and since their main meal for the day was provided by the school, we really wanted to transform the kitchen into a clean area with the proper tools and facilities,” said Mr Scheepers.
Graceland provided the school with a brand-new kitchen, amended and refurbish brick structure, installed ceilings and replace the roof, a new basin and shelves to keep grocery stocks safe.
The team also ensured proper flooring was installed that was easy to clean and maintain.
“There are just over 400 learners who attend the school, most of whom are from surrounding areas.
“We wanted to make sure that the school at least had a kitchen that was equipped to provide the kids with a nutritional meal.”
Pipes are currently being laid to provide the school with access to borehole water.
