SECUNDA – Shell casings of 9mm bullets found in Joe Slovo Street on Wednesday, 11 July could have come from guns fired out of moving cars.
Two people called in on the Secunda 911 channel on Zello late on Tuesday night, 10 July to alert others of gunshots being heard in Ext 22.
Residents in Joe Slovo Street later said they heard nine shots being fired with an interval between some of the shots.
StratconRisk and the police rushed to the area, but all was quiet.
Residents of a house in Joe Slovo Street noticed a bullet hole in their fence the next morning and reported it to StratconRisk.
Video footage from home security cameras was also viewed.
StratconRisk, Jelani Security and the police and the police’s K9 Unit meticulously searched the street and found five shell casings near the Steyn van der Spuy Street-turn off.
The police’s forensic team was also on the scene to gather evidence.
Just as the scene was cleared, Sgt Herman Mtsweni of the K9 Unit found four more shell casings in front of Kuiersaam Guest House.
The police are investigating.
