Pledge a shoe box and make a child’s heart happy

Visit Santa Shoebox website for more information.

SECUNDA – Ms Gerda Peuckert is driving the Santa Shoebox for the third time in the Secunda area this year.

With this project, organisers make it possible for less privileged children to receive a shoebox filled with particular items and to enjoy and celebrate the festive season.

People who want to donate a box, can pledge on the website, where details are given of what each child needs and how the boxes must be made up.

Pledges for this year already opened on 1 August and there is now also a new cell phone app where residents can donate and also track their boxes once they dropped it off at the different drop-off points.

With this project, 236 boxes were collected in 2016 and 454 boxes in 2017.

Ms Peuckert and her team hopes to receive 500 or more boxes this year that will go to the Kosmos Kriel Kinderhuis, Janelle Huis, Adullam School and Missionary, Children of Dawn in Ermelo, Van Stadendam Primary School in Charl Cilliers, Let the Children Come in eMbalenhle and the SAVF Halfway House in Standerton.

Boxes can be dropped off on 28, 29 and 30 September at Laerskool Goedehoop.
