Rich Mommy Foundation hosts successful women empowerment session at the Ermelo Civic Centre
The event featured various speakers from all walks of life, including pastors and representatives from the business sector.
The Rich Mommy Foundation hosted a women’s empowerment information session at the Civic Centre on Saturday, 18 August.
The foundation was founded by Ms Zinhle Six and is a non-profit organisation that aims at equipping women, especially mothers, with skills to tackle the world of employment.
Ms Six has come up with a unique way of rehabilitating women and the releasing of emotional, physical and financial burdens by offering counselling, self-growth and self-esteem building workshops.
“We are going to work with professionals to help women with all the pent-up emotions that they have been carrying around for so long,” said Ms Six.
She is alluding to the fact that women in townships experience a lot of emotional, physical and financial trauma because of their surroundings and way of life.
“Once the women are in a better ‘head space’, we begin to arm them with knowledge and skills with the focus more on entrepreneurship. We are tapping into all kinds of business sectors, from hairdressing salons to the food industry and fashion.”
The event featured various speakers from all walks of life, including pastors and representatives from the business sector, namely the National Youth Development Agency (Nyda).
The purpose of the event was to encourage and empower women in businesses in Ermelo and surrounding areas.
Small business owners had the opportunity to showcase their different wares at the stalls scattered around the hall.
The foundation will host a training session next that is facilitated by Nyda, on how to run a business.
