eMBALENHLE – Local police are concerned about the high number of domestic violence and assault cases being withdrawn of late.
According to Const Busi Mthethatwa, many cases of assault are often withdrawn at the station by those who open them.
She said the community are encouraged not to withdraw cases.
“A team of investigators is established to work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to book, only to find that the complainant does not want to continue with the case.
“This becomes a wasteful exercise of severely limited resources allocated to the police.”
She said locals must make up their minds before opening cases.
