Cops van Secunda Cluster excel at provincial excellence awards
The Secunda police is the accounting station of the Secunda Cluster and as such they have an additional responsibility of ensuring that other stations within the cluster comply with directives in all environments.
SECUNDA – The Secunda Police Station won a silver accolade in the category for Police Station of the Year at the annual police provincial awards ceremony held in eMalahleni recently.
Only those police stations that entered the competition were judged and considered on issues such as neatness, arrests and crime ratio.
The Secunda Police Station is the accounting station of the Secunda cluster and as such, they have an additional responsibility of ensuring that other stations within the cluster comply with directives in all environments.
Secunda Police Station was under the leadership of Col Willie Nel until June, when Col Harold Mashile took over the reigns.
Several members within the Secunda Police Cluster also excelled at the provincial awards.

W/O Oosie Oosthuizen won a bronze accolade in the Woman of the Year category.
She is a sector commander stationed at Secunda and won this award on local level.
W/O JM Pretorius from Balfour Police Station that is part of the Secunda cluster, came second in the category of Person with a disability of the Year.
He is the acting Vispol officer and achieves major successes.
He has severe hearing loss and a limp from being shot in his right leg several years ago.
Ms Kotie Moll, a chief registration clerk at Secunda Police Station, received a bronze award for Administration Employee of the Year Level 8 to 12.
She has been working for the police for almost 30 years.
Const Cynthia Mtshweni from eMzinoni Police Station was awarded a silver accolade as runner-up in the category, Vispol Employee of the Year, Level 5 tot 7.

She is the social crime prevention coordinator and communication officer at eMzinoni.
Const TL Shongwe, also from eMzinoni Police, took the second place in the category for Detective Services Employee of the Year Level 5 to 7.
Const Shongwe worked on several cases in the last year ranging from murder, robbery, assault, robbery with aggravating circumstances, housebreaking and theft.
Sgt Hezekiel Malapela, an investigator attached to the Secunda cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, won a bronze accolade for the FCS Employee of the Year Level 5-7.
Secunda’s FCS also came third as the Team of the Year with W/O Nathaniel Sondlane at the helm.
Their success was due to catching a serial rapist who was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Capt C. Tambani from Secunda criminal record centre, came third in the category Criminal Record Centre Employee of the Year Level 8 to 12.
Const GN Ndeni won the award for the Crime Intelligence Employee of the Year Level 5 to 7.
W/O Jacob Ras from the local Hawks branch came third in the provincial competition of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI).
