Young boy drowns near Standerton

It is said that the boy slipped and fell into the water and the other children ran to inform their parents.

Delta 1 Rescue Diving and Middelburg SAPS Diving unit/Inland Water Wing recovered the body of a young boy who drowned on a farm near Standerton on 4 December.

It is rumoured that the boy and his friends, were fishing when the incident took place, however, according to his grandmother, Ms Meisie Selepe, the boy was playing with his friends near the river as was their custom.

The boy allegedly slipped and fell into the water and the other children ran to inform their parents.

Kasselman Security Services contacted the Delta 1 Rescue Diving and Middelburg Police’s Diving Unit/Inland Water Wing who dived and recovered the body at about two metres deep.
