The police urged the motorist who hit Mr Zach Viktor, a cyclist, on Friday, 14 December on the tar road past Trichardt Crushers, between the dump site and Twistdraai Mine, to report the incident to the police.
Mr Viktor’s son-in-law, Mr Conrad Bergh, said the motorist stopped, but he said he had to go because he had to pour tea at church.
“He never reported the incident to the police,” said Mr Bergh.
The Ridge Times reported on Friday that Ms Alma Nortjé who was travelling behind the bakkie that knocked Mr Viktor off his bicycle saw the entire incident and added that the bakkie passed her on a solid line at about 120km per hour.
Both Ms Nortjé and Mr Bergh said the motorist jumped out of his bakkie and shouted at the cyclists.
Mr Viktor broke his right thumb and heel in three places, but because of the swelling, doctors can only work on the joints at a later stage.
The right side of his body is full of bruises.
