GRAPHIC CONTENT – Young boys kick helpless kitten at a block of flats in Secunda
The kitten is currently undergoing treatment.
A kitten was so badly abused at Coron Park Flats on Tuesday, 1 January, that he could not eat by himself afterward.
A resident at the block of flats saw the two boys, suspected to be aged nine or 10, kick the kitten up in the air where it then hit a brick wall and land on its face.
“I was locking my neighbour’s flat and as I turned around I saw the boys and how the kitten was flying through the air,” said the resident who wants to remain anonymous.
“I screamed at them and they ran away.
“I chased after them, but I could not catch up and they escaped.
“The kitten’s face was full of blood and he was so scared.”

Another neighbour saw the same boys the day before walking around with sticks. They fear that the boys will use the sticks to hurt the other kittens.
“We are looking for them and I reported the matter to the body corporate and the caretaker,” said the resident.
Feral Watch, a non-profit organisation that works with feral cats, was called and they caught the kitten. The kitten is currently undergoing treatment.
Ms Nicolette van Zyl of Feral Watch, said that when they found the kitten it could not eat by himself because of his injuries. He is now however showing progress and has begun eating unassisted.
They are planning to remove the other kittens from the litter soon.
Feral Watch and Highveld Ridge SPCA are taking hands to open a case of animal cruelty against the suspected boys.
