Schools welcome a new generation of Grade Rs and 1s

Schools in Standerton and Sakhile welcomed new Grade Rs and 1s on 9 January.

Nyandeni Primary, Lindilanga Primary and Hlobisa Primary Schools, as well as Laerskool Jeugkrag, Laerskool Kalie De Haas and Standerton Akademie were just some of the many that were abuzz with the newbies.

There were mixed emotions as some young ones shed a tear when they saw their mothers leaving, while others kicked and screamed, with others taking the new adventure in their stride.

A learner at Lindilanga Primary School asked the teacher to let her go home with mommy, promising to return tomorrow.

Other learners were happy to be at school and made new friends.
