Where to register: Final voting registration take place this month

The countdown to registration for Provincial and National 2019 voting has begun.

Saturday, 26 January and Sunday, 27 January are the dates for final registration so make sure you do not miss your opportunity, or you will be left out at the 2019 elections in May.

All stations around the country will be in full operation from 8am to 5pm on the specified dates.

“You only need to register once, unless you move (within South Africa) or your voting district boundaries change,” says the IEC website.

The registration requires you to be a South African Citizen from the age of 16, to take your green ID book, smart card ID or temporary ID certificate to your local voting station.

If you are 16-years-old and register, note that you will only be eligible to vote when you are 18 years old.

No passports, drivers license, certified copy of your ID or any other form of identification will be accepted.

It is important to first visit the IEC website: www.elections.org.za to check if you are registered to vote in the upcoming elections.
