Committee begins charity shop and creates play area at Highveld Ridge SPCA

Another newly implemented idea, is a play area where the dogs can stretch their legs and enjoy the grassy patch while their cages are being cleaned

EVANDER – The Highveld Ridge SPCA is slowly, but surely, taking on a new look.

The committee opened a charity shop in their offices where one can find anything from books to crockery.

These items were donated to the SPCA and are then sold at a small price to strengthen the finance coffers of the SPCA.

If you have anything to donate, the SPCA will welcome it with open arms.

Visitors are always welcome.

Another newly implemented idea, is a play area where the dogs can stretch their legs and enjoy the grassy patch while their cages are being cleaned.

According to Ms Chanelle Oosthuizen, a committee member, the play area is also ideal when people want to introduce their pets to the one they wish to adopt from the SPCA.

“In this way one can see how the animals interact and if they will get along,” said Ms Oosthuizen.

A team from SA Fence and Gate donated and installed a new fence for this project and also replaced some of the other dilapidated fences. This cost about R6 000.

Mr Jacques Theron, operations manager at SA Fence and Gate said this is a way for them to invest in the community.

The SPCA also wish to see colourful paintings on the kennel walls.

This is however, a project that is still in the pipeline.

SPCA volunteers Mr Marius and Ms Chanelle Oosthuizen (in the middle) are with SA Fence and Gate’s Mr Gerrit Beylefeld (operations manager), Mr Jacques Theron (operations manager) and Mr Theuns Haman (site manager) in front of the new play area.
