Local Secunda writer has big plans for future

Publishing Company will host a competition for upcoming writers soon

SECUNDA – Ms Kesegie Moodley, writer and full-time receptionist at Sasol, recently published her fifth book, ‘Worthy of Love 2’.

She also began her own publishing company, LuKe Publishing, that focuses on writers who want to publish books but cannot afford to spend so much money.

Her company has published five books, including three of her own.

Ms Moodley’s dream is to become a full-time writer, but being a single mother of a 12-year-old daughter, she needs a full time job to support her family.

“I love my job at Sasol, because I get to meet new people often and I love people,” said Ms Moodley.

Her publishing company will give one potential writer the chance to publish an E-book free of charge.

LuKe Publishing will be hosting a spring competition in September and the winner will receive a publishing package.

Ms Moodley’s fifth book tells the story about a villain who visits Secunda to seek revenge, but instead finds love.

The cover of this book is dear to Ms Moodley, because the front features a photo of her younger sister.

“My sister always wants to face the front and take on challenges for me,” said Ms Moodley.

A photo of her older brother is featuring on the back of the cover, because her brother always has her back.

“There is an orange flower on my book cover, because orange is my favourite colour.”

All Ms Moodley’s book covers have a similar design.

The design is also special to her as the designer of her first and second books passed away while her second book was being published.

“I keep the designs similar to honour him.

“He discovered and saw the potential in me when I wrote my first book”

Ms Moodley loves writing and creating a different world with different characters.

“Many people ask me when will I be rich and famous, but it is not about that. God gave me a talent to help people put their thoughts on paper.”

Ms Moodley’s latest work besides her fifth book, is an online series called ‘Office Snitch’.

She has published seven of the series’ chapters online and aims to publish a chapter monthly.

This series tells the story about an office, the happenings in the office and the lives of the employees.

Ms Moodley’s first book is called ‘Web of Love’, the second book, ‘Symbol of Affection’, the third book, ‘Worthy of Love’ and the fourth book, ‘Tri-Love’.

She said the fifth book is not a continuation of her third book with the same name, but rather about the next generation.

“I do not know how readers will react to my latest book, because it is very different to my previous publications in the sense that the main character often talks to God.”

Ms Moodley reckons her writing has changed a lot from her first to her fifth book.

“Change is good, it means growth.”

Ms Moodley’s general genre throughout her publications are romance and love.

It is not only about the love between a man and a woman, but also the love between a mother and daughter-in-law, and a father and his daughter.

“I love romance, how people fall in love and end up together.

“I believe love is one thing that people cannot change, it is very difficult to pretend to love someone. Love is an emotion that cannot be altered.”

Ms Moodley also enjoys writing poems and is currently in the process of turning one of her poems into a song.

She also began studying this year and is doing a marketing and public relations course.

Her aim is to complete her studies within the next two years.
