Bakkie goes up in flames after lightning strikes near Leandra

LEANDRA – Two men escaped unharmed after lightning struck their company vehicle between Leandra and Standerton this afternoon, 21 February.

The two employees of Tren Tyre were traveling from Standerton to Leandra where they were going to turn off to Johannesburg.

Lightning struck the Ford Ranger double cab near the turnoff to Balfour and the vehicle caught fire at about 4.30pm.

Jelani Security and firefighters from Leandra and Standerton were on the scene.

According to Mr Alf Byleveldt the bakkie completely burned out.
