Cansa encourages people at Relay for Life in Secunda

Bikers honour cancer patients and survivors at Cansa Relay for Life

SECUNDA – Cansa hosted its Relay for Life event on Saturday, 2 March at Laerskool Goedehoop. About 10 teams entered the race. Ms Gisele Bosman, of Cansa, said the event was an exercise run for the bigger relay later this year.

“This relay was only six hours long, but the next one will be for 12 hours,” said Ms Bosman.

The band, Untamed, provided the music and was also the masters of ceremony.

Cancer survivors were spoiled with something to eat in the survivors’ tent. They walked the first round and were followed by caregivers and volunteers.

Bikers formed a bikers’ salute and learners from Laerskool Goedehoop formed a guard of honour to show their support.

Ms Bosman thanked the volunteers, Laerskool Goedehoop, the sector police, Untamed, Sapphire Productions, Teksa Blood Service and the ATKV for their support.
