Taxi chairman helps youth with licenses through free driving lessons

Maleleza praised for his drivers licenses skills development initiative

eMBALENHLE – About 20 local youth have benefited from the drivers licenses skills development initiative of Mr Fanyana Sibanyoni, chairman for Vukanini Taxi Association.

Mr Sibanyoni decided to intervene in order to help the youth obtain their code 10 drivers licenses for free.

The youth were randomly selected from the database of the eMbalenhle Community Forum known as the GMM Forum.

He said he funded the disadvantaged youth towards a better future through free driving lessons.

“I decided to help out after I realised that the youth is fighting for a good cause and I advised them that violence cannot solve their problems.

“I funded the programme, because I know that matric is not the only thing needed to get a job.

“Many companies insist on a driver’s licence, which is difficult to get when you are unemployed and have no money.”

The youth began with the programme in October and recently completed it.

They commended Mr Sibanyoni for this initiative and urged other local business people to learn from him.

The youth said they could not believe when they were told that Mr Sibanyoni is offering to fund this programme, because so many residents are negative about him in the township.

“I have learned never to judge a person on the basis of hearsay, Mr Sibanyoni is not as bad as portrayed by many, he is loving and caring father,” said Sakhile Mthethwa, one of the beneficiaries.

“His actions has taught me the life lesson that when I become successful I must always remember the poor.

“We are grateful for this chance.

“I hope he will continue empowering the youth in our area.”
