BETHAL – The police are asking people who witnessed the arrest of armed robbers in Bethal on 5 December to come forward.
They are urgently looking for anyone who was on the scene that day and who might have taken photographs of the arrest.
The arrest resulted from a robbery that took place at Dirkiesdorp earlier that day.
The robbers were spotted on the N17 highway heading to Bethal.
The police pursued them and forced the suspects off the road in front of the Bethal Police Station.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of six pistols hidden in the air filter holder, another three in the vehicle, money, clothes and numerous other items.
The police arrested six men and confiscated the suspected stolen goods.
According to Sgt ME Tsoaela from the national police in the Pretoria, several members of the public were present when the arrests were made.
He is asking those people to step up and help the police with their investigation.
