Evander car guard finds diamond ring in street
The ring looks like an engagement ring
EVANDER – Mr Pieter Marais, a car guard at Evander, picked up a diamond ring in the middle of the road and hopes to find its owner.
He found the ring that looks like an engagement ring, in the street between the Engen petrol station and MJ Liquor Store at Evander about two months ago and has kept it on a string around his neck ever since.
Mr Marais is wheelchair bound and works as a car guard in front of the Old Mutual apartment building.
“A woman initially mistakenly claimed it as hers, but eventually returned it when she realised it was not her ring,” said Mr Marais.
He suspects that it could belong to a woman driving a gold coloured Mercedes Benz as she was in the same area prior to him finding the piece of jewelry.
“It is important for me to find the owner of the ring.
“There might be some sentimental value to the piece,” said Mr Marais.
