Young man hacked to death in apparent gang-related violence at Kinross

The police have been monitoring the growing tension in the township since early morning.

KINROSS – A 20-year-old man was hacked to death in Ext 25, Afghanistan section at Kinross this morning, 8 September.

A second young man sustained serious cut wounds inflicted with pangas.

He was rushed to hospital.

Although the community claim these crimes are gang-related, the police are investigating all angles.

These crimes sparked a community uproar in the informal settlement next to Thistle Grove.

Sgt Jaco Nagel, Kinross Police spokesman, said the cops arrested six people in connection with the murder, 22 were arrested for public violence, two for interfering with the police’s work and two others were arrested for malicious damage to property.

Numerous weapons were confiscated.
