No Load shedding expected for today – 17 December 2019
Eskom reminded residents that as the system continues to be vulnerable, load shedding could be implemented at short notice if there is a change in the system.
Eskom informed residents that they do not expect load shedding for today, despite a constrained and vulnerable system.
The probability of load shedding for the rest of this week is also low.
Eskom will continue to use emergency reserves to supplement capacity if necessary during this period.
Eskom reminded residents that as the system continues to be vulnerable, load shedding could be implemented at short notice if there is a change in the system.
Eskom’s technical teams will continue to work over the holiday period to monitor the situation and to work at reducing unplanned breakdowns to below 9 500mw to enable them to minimise the risk of load shedding.
They urged residents to reduce the demand for electricity as a concerted collective effort that can help to avoid or lessen the level of load shedding.
