Ms Corrienne Tesner (62) was murdered in her granny flat behind her children’s house in Hodgson Street on Saturday, 23 February.

This former receptionist at Highveld Park High School was still in her pajamas when she was stabbed to death.

The breakthrough in the murder investigation came when detectives went to confirm the suspect’s address – the suspect confessed to raping and murdering Ms Tesner, and then stealing her vehicle

1. Worker gunned down at Sam Holdings in Bethal

An employee at Sam Holdings in Stasieweg in Bethal, was gunned down tonight, 12 September. The man was shot in the head and twice in the chest at about 6pm.

Capt Dineo Segothodi, spokesman for the Mpumalanga Hawks, confirmed that this elite squad has taken over the murder investigation as it might be connected to their investigation into Mr Sambulo Bruce Chabalala (Sam), the owner of Sam

Wynand Eksteen (38) from Secunda was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment last week for defrauding his employer out of R4-million. Eksteen was sentenced in the Evander Regional Court on Tuesday, 5 March.

1. Businessman gunned down in Bethal, suspected killers in custody

A prominent businessman was gunned down in Du Plooy Street at about 11pm on Christmas day.

2. Suspects in Bethal businessman’s murder appear in court

The two men suspected of gunning down Mr Bongani Manana in Bethal on Christmas will remain behind bars while waiting for their next court appearance on 2 January. Messrs Sizwe Benedict Methula (28) and Mzwandike Matthews (34) were arrested on Thursday, 26 December for the murder of Manana and appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court today, 27 December.
