Assaults are on the rise in eMbalenhle

Police said most of the incidents emanated from liquor outlets and some are domestic violence.

eMBALENHLE – Police have raised their concerns over the high increase of assaults with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) in the area.

According to the police, more than 10 cases of assaults GBH were reported between 2 and 6 January.

Police said most of the incidents emanated from liquor outlets and some are domestic violence.

Const Busi Mthethwa, police spokesman, urged locals to always try resolving their misunderstandings peacefully, rather than being violent.

She said that they should avoid confrontation whenever they are intoxicated.

She said in one of the incidents a suspect assaulted his ex-girlfriend with brick after he accused her of moving on too soon.

She urged men to accept whenever they are dumped and to seek professional help, such as counselling, if they are struggling to accept it.
