Dr Darko Zupanc will spay or neuter 10 cats for free
Spend R200 or more at the vet and help a feral cat
SECUNDA – Dr Darko Zupanc at Syrmia Vet vowed to spay or neuter 10 feral cats monthly free of charge.
He decided to thank the community for their ongoing support and he offers several specials ranging from dental treatments, vaccinations and the spay and neutering of dogs and cats.
“I want to do my part for animals who do not have anybody taking care of them,” said Dr Zupanc, who is passionate about stray animals.
In his home country, Serbia, he was the director of Bridgette Bardot’s organisation that aimed at sterilising stray animals.
He was also the vice-president of the Serbian Veterinarian Council and wants to get more involved in such causes in South Africa since he settled here now.
Every new customer who spends R200 or more at Syrmia Vet and mentions Feral Watch &TNR (Trap, neuter and return), the animal welfare organisation in Secunda that is concerned with the care of feral cats and colonies in the area, will receive a voucher for Feral Watch to have a cat sterilized for free.
According to Ms Nicolette van Zyl, founder of Feral Watch TNR, this means Syrmia Vet will spay or neuter 120 cats free of charge in 2020.
This amounts to R156 000 that Dr Zupanc is investing in feral care. She said the volunteers at Feral Watch are thankful for this gesture. Syrmia Vet also has a special on spay and neutering of R500 per animal.
