Delegates from Sky Village Developers, Seriti and the Inkazimulo Stimulation Centre were also present.

Lekwa Municipality’s mayoral committee issued a statement on 22 January about issues of concern to the public.

The executive committee held an ordinary sitting the previous day and dealt inter alia with three items that were of major concern, namely development of the Standerton Mall, the Inkazimulo Stimulation Centre and the status of fire engines in town.

Delegates from Sky Village Developers, Seriti and the Inkazimulo Stimulation Centre were also present.

The following resolutions were taken:

• That all concerned parties including the Department of Planning and Economic Development, Department of Corporate Services: legal section and the developers of the Standerton Mall should come to a conclusion on the service level agreement that entails provision of bulk services and rates.
• Land donated to the Inkazimulo Stimulation Centre is in progress and expected to be finalised by the end of February.
The municipality through its Corporate Services: legal services and planning and development should come to an agreement on the service level agreement.
• Lekwa’s administration tabled a report on the progress and status of buying new fire engines and leasing.

The executive committee noted the report and requested further documentation and the mayoral committee will engage on the matter at its next meeting that was scheduled for 24 January.

Investigations are in progress on buying new fire engines and the leasing of two fire engines, that were supposed to be allocated to Standerton Fire Station and Morgenzon Fire Station. The statement concluded by saying the committee will advise Lekwa’s council at its next meeting on those issues.
