Indigent residents can now register

According to the communications department of Govan Mbeki Municipality, the registration process is meant to ensure that residents who qualify for Indigent Social Packages are documented to enable them to gain access to free basic services.

HIGHVELD – Indigent registrations will open on Saturday, 8 February and will be open until 12 April.

Govan Mbeki Municipality issued a press statement to inform residents about the venues and times where registrations can be done.

Residents can register during these months on a Saturday between 8am to 4pm.

In eMbalenhle the venues are at the fire station, Lifalethu Primary School, eMbalenhle Primary School, Vukuzithathe Primary School, Basizeni Special School, Shapeve Primary School, Maphala Gulube School, Pretty Bright Creche and the eMba South Hall Ground.

In Charl Cilliers, residents can register at the Charl Cilliers hall and in Kinross at the municipal offices.

Residents of Leandra, Lebohang and Eendracht can register at the Lebohang Civic Centre and for Bethal and eMzinoni residents, the places of registration are Lamlile School, Sakhisizwe School (Saed Clinic), Vukanini School, Khwezi School, Langelihle Primary School and the open ground in Extension 22 and 23.

Secunda residents can register at the municipal offices in Secunda.

Residents will need the following documents to apply:

• A certified ID copy of the applicant
• Proof of property ownership
• Proof of income (R3 800 or less)
• An affidavit confirming unemployment
• A municipal account statement.
