CPF Sector 3 in Secunda has events planned for the year
Our biggest crime problem in this sector is the theft of old model vehicles, especially bakkies,” said Mr Booyse. He said residents who own such vehicles should take extra precaution by locking gates and garages, and also installing tracker systems.
SECUNDA – The Community Policing Forum’s Sector 3 team wants to get to know and interact with their fellow residents in this area.
Sector 3 spans from the town’s border with Trichardt to the residential area near the Secunda dumping site, and the neighbourhood around Hoërskool Oosterland to Highveld Park High School and back towards Laerskool Goedehoop.
The team hopes to involve the community more and has several events planned.

The first took place on Tuesday night, 18 February when Sector 3 members performed special patrols.
They called on residents to unite with them in a show of solidarity by camping out in front of their yards from 7pm to 10pm. In this way, the community visibly showed that criminals are not welcome and residents can also got to know their neighbours and the Sector 3 members.
Mr Drikus Booyse, Sector 3 chairman, said at their meeting held on Thursday, 13 February, that crime in this sector decreased in January. He attributed the lower crime rate to active members and regular patrols.
“Our biggest crime problem in this sector is the theft of old model vehicles, especially bakkies,” said Mr Booyse.
He said residents who own such vehicles should take extra precaution by locking gates and garages, and also installing tracker systems.
Sector 3 also invites residents to join their Facebook page and the information group on Telegram. You do not have to worry that the group will be flooded with messages and it will only be open for comment at a specific time period to answer questions. The link to the Telegram group can be found on Sector 3’s Facebook page.
The Sector 3 team is also planning an informal dance with good music and good company. Anyone can attend. All you need to do is buy a ticket, bring your own drinks and food and have fun.
Tickets sell at R50 per couple for Sector members and R75 for non-sector members.
The date for this event is still to be determined.
Sector 3 members will also be involved in other activities this year, such as security duties at the Misty Waters Music Festival at Lake Umuzi from 30 April to 3 May, and the Cansa Relay for Life on 10 and 11 October.
