How Ermelo parents plan on keeping their children busy during lockdown

“I think now is the perfect time for children to do anything they have not yet done or tried before.”

Parents are sharing ideas on how they plan to keep their children busy during the 21 day lockdown.

Mr Christo Botha, the father of eight-year-old Divan Botha, said: “It’s a challenging time for all parents in South Africa.

He plans on keeping his son busy by letting him help around the house with house choirs and helping to prepare the food as well.

“I try involving him with everything I do, last night he helped me prepare lunch.”

Mr Botha borrowed a Playstation from a friend of his to keep Divan busy.

He explained, diamond art is something Divan enjoys doing, but he bought him a few board games as well.

“Washing and grooming the pets is something he has not done before which he is very excited to do now.

“I think now is the perfect time for children to do anything they have not yet done or tried before.”

Ms Jessica Abbott, mother of Amy Abbott (4) said: “Luckily the school Amy attends have been very helpful, they have been posting activities on the parents’ Whatapp group.

“I will be doing fun activities with Amy during the lockdown such as developing her motoring skills, colouring and painting.”

According to Ms Gritli Jooste, mother of five-year-old Chleo Thyssen and two-year-old Liam Smith, she plans on keeping them busy with all sorts of activity books to keep their minds stimulated.

Ms Erna van Wyk, the mother of 3-year-old William van Wyk, said: “ I get the Woelwater box every month, it contains a booklet and everything you need to complete the activities.
