Mkhwanazis in Morgenzon once again woken by a truck accident on R35 Road

Mr Muso Kubheka, DA-councillor, said the municipality is aware of the danger on that road.

Another truck driver had an accident near the Mkhwanazi property this morning, 22 April.

Mr James Mkhwanazi had a horrifying experience on 16 May last year when a truck smashed into their house. Mr Muso Kubheka, DA-councillor, alerted the Standerton Advertiser about today’s incident early this morning.

According to Mr Kubheka, the accident happened at about 6.30am.

The newspaper tried to get hold of Mr Mkhwanazi, but was unsuccessful.

The Mkhwanazis have property, consisting of a house and adjacent house in Morgenzon, at a sharp curve of the R35 Road.

Mr Khubeka also said Mr Mkhwanazi is very worried. Another accident took place in 2017 when a small sedan crashed into the house.  Mr Mkhwanazi bought the stand and property, which are not insured, in 2007.

According to Mr Kubheka, the Lekwa Municipality is well aware of the danger on that road.

“I had a discussion with the HOD of Technical Services, Ms Makhazasi, regarding the matter and she promised to escalate it to the relevant authorities, but to date nothing has been done,” Mr Kubheka said last year.
He added today that a promise of speed humps was broken.

The Standerton Advertiser sent a WhatsApp-message to the communications manager of the municipality, Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, today for comment in this regard and is awaiting comment.

According to Mr Kubheka, the truck driver did not sustain any injuries.
