Mpumalanga’s law enforcement on high alert
The MEC, Ms Gabasile Shabalala reiterated the call for communities to comply with regulations to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison issued a statement this morning, 2 May about recent activities.
The MEC, Ms Gabisile Shabalala reiterated the call for communities to comply with regulations to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Ms Shabalala warned that level 4 does not mean communities can move around as they please. An anticipated increase in movement of people and vehicles when returning to work is expected.
“We will continue to ensure that people comply with regulations,” Ms Shabalala added.
They want people to stay at home unless they are rendering essential services.
She urged business owners to properly control queues and manage the number of customers entering their stores. Shop owners should ensure social distancing and have proper sanitation practices for employees and customers.
Provincial traffic officers, police and the South African Defence Force stopped 75 147 vehicles at roadblocks between 2 and 28 April. Altogether 39 people were arrested of which 36 suspects failed to comply with Covid-19 regulations.
