Standerton residents air their dirty laundry

Both residents pointed out the financial implications of replacing the ruined clothing.

Mr Charles Moloi from BJ Homes in Sakhile brought dirty clothing to the office of the Standerton Advertiser on Tuesday, 9 June.

According to him, the washing cycle on Saturday, 6 June did not clean the new clothes and it had to be repeated.

The water supply was interrupted as well and when supply was restored at 10.30am, the results after the second wash were not satisfactory.

Ms Riana Barnard from town also shared her experience with the newspaper.

She took photos of the laundry once the washing was done.

Both residents pointed out the financial implications of replacing the ruined clothing.

The newspaper sent an enquiry to the communications manager of the Lekwa Municipality, Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, on Wednesday, 10 June..

Ms Mthiselwa replied the following day that the municipality is still investigating the matter.

“We would like those people to report it as we don’t have any major challenges with water purification currently,” she said.
