Rumour circulating on social media of Covid-19 cases in Ermelo – still not confirmed

The Highvelder is investigating the legitimacy of a rumour that three people in Ermelo have tested positive for Covid-19, two who are alleged to have tested positive within the last 24 hours.
Social media is currently a flurry of activity with WhatsApps being circulated on the alleged cases.
The Highvelder therefore reached out to numerous sources within the health sector and other deparments, but with no definitive answer as of yet.

He, however, did not answer numerous follow-up calls, a message was subsequently then sent to him, he has yet to respond.
The Highvelder also spoke to Mr Charles Vilane, Mediclinic Ermelo Hospital general manager, who stated that he would sent out an official release should these rumours be affirmed.
Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman of the Msukaligwa Municipality stated that he was not in an official position to comment, but referred the Highvelder to Mr Telson Mabuza, regional spokesman for the Department of Health.
Mr Mabuza indicated that a meeting was planned for 3pm today, 17 June, and subsequent thereto, he would inform the Highvelder about any findings or discussions relating to the alleged cases.

Ms Bongi Ka Dube, spokesman for the Gert Sibande District Municipality, also advised the Highvelder to liaise with Mr Malamule as he is the designated person tasked with answering questions in this regard.
