Mediclinic Highveld rejects false WhatsApp message circulating on social media
“Mediclinic would like to state that the claims referencing Mediclinic in this message are false,” said Ms Sphiwe Mahlalela, patient relations manager at Mediclinic Highveld.
The management team of Mediclinic Highveld, said they are aware of a factually incorrect message circulating on social media regarding an alleged instruction that prevents doctors to perform CPR on Covid-19 patients.
“Mediclinic would like to state that the claims referencing Mediclinic in this message are false,” said Ms Sphiwe Mahlalela, patient relations manager at Mediclinic Highveld.
“In strict accordance with NICD and National Department of Health protocols, Mediclinic has implemented the necessary measures to manage any patients presenting with symptoms and to prevent the potential transmission of the virus in our facilities.
“Our priority remains the safety of patients, staff and doctors and as always, decisions about hospitalisation and treatment will be made by the treating doctor based on a patient’s condition. “The Covid-19 pandemic poses a serious challenge to South Africa and its citizens and Mediclinic is committed to playing our part in supporting the National Department of Health where required.
“Everyone in the healthcare chain needs to play their part to prevent further transmission and aid in the best care of those infected and in need of care.
“Our advice to any individuals exposed to Covid-19 is self-monitoring and self-isolation with testing warranted if symptoms develop.”
