Livestock successfully recovered from illegal mine between Bethal and Kriel

Upon further investigation, two more calves were also recovered inside a coal mine which is believed to be occupied by Zama-zamas (illegal miners).

BETHAL – The Bethal police’s stock theft unit recovered two stolen cows in a valley behind Aangewys Hostels off the R545 between Bethal and Kriel on Thursday, 25 June.

Upon further investigation, two more calves were also recovered inside a coal mine which is believed to be occupied by Zama-zamas (illegal miners).

The calves were found bound by their hooves.

With the help of the stock theft information centre the owner had been located and his livestock was returned to him.
