Two police stations temporarily closed due to Covid-19

The Amersfoort Station Commander, Capt Delisile Thwala, can be contacted at 082 370 0930, and the Volksrust Station Commander, Lieut-Col Dumisani Khumalo, can be contacted at 082 579 0250.

The police informed communities in Mpumalanga that both the Volksrust Police Station as well as the Amersfoort Police Station are temporarily closed after officers were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, one officer in Amersfoort tested positive for the coronavirus on 5 July.

The Community Service Centre will now be operational at the Amersfoort 1912 Town Hall at Sybrandt van Niekerk Street, near the police station.

To access the station, the community can call 076 459 0120 for all emergencies and complaints.

Police said it will be attended to accordingly and although the telephone lines at the centre will not be accessible for the duration of the closure, service delivery will not be hampered.

Police also said the building will be decontaminated and services will resume normally at the station on Tuesday, 8 July.

Volksrust Police Station is also temporarily closed due to an officer who tested positive for the coronavirus on 4 July.

The Community Service Centre will be operational as a mobile police station in President Street, just in front of the station.

To access the station, the community can call 073 218 1827 for all emergencies and complaints.

Telephone lines at the centre will not be accessible for the duration of the closure.

Police also said service delivery will not be hampered and the community can call 065 747 0946 for any complaints or emergencies.

The building will be decontaminated and services will resume normally at the station on Tuesday, 7 July.
