Pharmacy followed protocol with Covid-19 employee
Ms Michelle Nell, general manager of Secunda Mall, said each store has its own protocols as received from their head offices in line with reaction to possible Covid-19 cases.

A concerned resident complained that he saw employees of Secunda Mall standing outside at the back of the mall on Sunday, 12 July because of a Covid-19 positive case.
The man said all DisChem has done to safeguard its customers and employees was to close the shop for a few hours to sanitise the shop and none of the other employees have been tested.
“I was under the impression that if a positive case occurs in a workplace all the employees that have been in contact should self-isolate,” said the man.
Ms Michelle Nell, general manager of Secunda Mall, said each store has its own protocols as received from their head offices in line with reaction to possible Covid-19 cases.
“Most protocols of the stores have been reviewed by their legal representatives after due interpretation of the regulations and as such, we are comfortable that the stores are managing their in-house matters correctly,” said Ms Nell.
She further said from management’s side, the mall does not discuss positive cases for privacy reasons and they ensure everyone that the mall’s sanitising and cleaning schedules are in place and that additional sanitising is done as per government requirements with certificates available as proof of services.
“I would also like to urge the community to make use of our complimentary sanitisers at all entrances and to play their part in maintaining a safe social distance together with wearing the appropriate masks.”
Ms Maggie Dürr, store manager of DisChem Secunda, said strict protocol was followed and employees that were in close contact with the individual who tested positive with Covid-19 were identified, tested and instructed to self-isolate.
“The store was cleaned and disinfected and all employees are closely monitored for symptoms and temperature checks are done daily,” said Ms Dürr.
