Husband-and-wife duo cares for community
The husband and wife duo live by education is a key and exposure is king.
HIGHVELD – Being involved in the community is what is important to Mr Maverick (aka Mav) and Ms Melané Hammond of MavCorp.
This husband-and-wife duo works closely with the police, security companies such as Roman Alarms, Delta1 Rescue Diving and emergency workers and have built good working relationships in the field.
MavCorp was established in 2015 and has been growing over the past several years.
Mr Hammond is well known for his specialised security services for high value cargo, VIPs, mining security, CCTV, EMS, tracking and tracing of missing or wanted persons, and much more.
MavCorp together with Roman Alarms Tactical Unit, the police’s Crime Intelligence head office, Ekurhuleni tactical team, Badboys and Fidelity Specialised Services were recently involved in the successful apprehending of criminals in an attempted cash in-transit robbery in Belfast.
Mr Hammond is involved with training of cash in-transit employees. He also does security and site evaluations.
“We provide more advance training such as close-quarter combat, firearm techniques and application, said Mr Hammond.
MavCorp also provide services such polygraph tests and voice stress analysis.
In 2010 Ms Melané Hammond completed her first medical qualification while working in the banking industry. On top of this she also studied law part-time.
“After 12 years of service in the banking industry, I decided to join my husband. I studied intermediate life support and took over the EMS.
The MavCorp EMS only does medical transfers and medical standby at events.
In association with Delta 1 Rescue Diving, Ms Hammond responds to drowning scenes not only to declare the persons as deceased, but also to be present in case one of the rescue divers need medical assistance.
“We work closely with schools, teaching children about ambulances and information sessions with children.”
In 2019 she completed her instructor’s course and now gives first aid classes from level one to three, basic life support and family CPR, among many others.
MavCorp is a certified training centre and registered with the American Heart Association.
“This field of work was definitely a calling for me.
“I want to teach as many people as possible how to do CPR and how to apply first aid.
“It is important for not only adults, but also children to learn these basic lifesaving skills as it could save a life.
The Hammonds’ motto is “education is a key and exposure is king”.
“While educating, we expose children and adults to a field they might want to be in one day. It could be a calling for them,” ended Ms Hammond.
MavCorp is in the processes of becoming a stakeholder for RIMS (Roads Incident Management System).
