Locals warned not to pay those who are promising them jobs

This came after a woman was conned out of money by those who promised her a job.

eMBALENHLE – Const Busi Mthethwa advised job seekers not to give money to people who promise them a job.

She said there is an increase in cases of fraud as people give money to others in the hope of being employed.

This came after a woman was conned out of money by those who promised her a job.

To get the job, she had to deposit R2 000 into their account.

Const Mthethwa warned job seekers about jobs being advertised on the Internet or on Facebook.

She said in most cases applicants are asked to reply “Yes” or comment on a cell phone, then they will be called back and asked for documents.

Later they will be told about a fee for uniforms or administration that needs to be paid before you can be employed.

“We advise people to verify with the companies’ human resources management about vacancies at their companies, and also remember that you cannot pay to be employed.”
