
Municipal workers began working on Wednesday, 9 September after a lengthy strike that crippled service delivery in Standerton.
According to information, the Lekwa Municipality met some of the demands of the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu).
The area around the municipal building showed signs of the protest action on Tuesday, 9 September.
The entrance gate was open on Wednesday and services seem to be up and running, but entry to the main building proved unsuccessful.
A security guard requested the Standerton Advertiser to wait around the corner, when making an enquiry.
The newspaper sent a WhatsApp-message to the communications manager of the municipality, Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, the same day with regard to the position of the municipal manager.
Information suggested that a deadline of 10 September for providing reasons, not to be suspended, was on the cards.
Ms Mtshiselwa replied on Friday, 11 September that until all internal processes are in place and council makes a resolution, the enquiry can not be replied to.
The DA has also laid charges against Ms Gugulethu Mhlongo-Ntshangase at the Standerton Police Station.

Ms Sithi Silosini, PR-councillor, as well as the caucus leader, Mr Rosier De Ville, instituted criminal proceeding.
According to Mr De Ville, the police want to combine all the charges dating back to 2018 for a comprehensive dossier.
Mr Deon Bekker, chairman of the Ward 10-committee, accompanied him on Wednesday, 9 September.
Clean-up activity in Beyers Naudé Street began during the week.
A source sent a screen shot to the Standerton Advertiser on Friday, 11 September with regard to the contract signed between the union and the municipality.
According to Mr Nicholas Selepe of the Civic Voice, it is a fake and/or fraudulent agreement that saw the municipal workers go back to work.
It was signed between Mr Ben Mosikidi, councillor, and the union and Ms Ria Shabangu, councillor, also signed as a witness.
He said a councillor has no right to enter into any agreement dealing with employment issues.
The speaker, Ms Makhosazana Khota, was allegedly also in the meeting that concluded the contract.
