The association issued a statement, saying Eskom’s right for leave to appeal was granted.
They added that the issue of notified maximum demand (NMD) and its effect on small towns, will likely now become a national matter.
The verdict can either grant Eskom the right to continue punishing residents for municipal debt by limiting electricity usage, or could be reconsidered.
“Eskom’s method of penalising will open the door for all small towns to follow,” the statement read.
An article on the association’s views will be published in the Standerton Advertiser of next week.
