Lexus LC 500: New spec upgrade for the cocoon

Already on sale in South Africa, the LC 500 carries a price tag of R2 031 500.

Lexus deems its LC 500 model as its most iconic and future-leading model and with that said, the Japanese brand is giving the V8 coupe a spec upgrade.

Already on sale in South Africa, the LC 500 carries a price tag of R2 031 500 and boasts interior and technology-focused upgrades.

The new LC 500 showcases a new colour called Blazing while the interior comes fitted with Manhattan Orange which is a rich new tone for the LC’s cabin, inspired by the famous Manhattan Henge.

A new 17MM+ high-resolution audio comes standard and allows USB Audio, DAB phase driver, Miracast, Smartphone linking, as well as Apple Car Play® and Android Auto connectivity.

Another new colour for this model is Terrane Khaki (first seen on the UX). These colours join a Lexus palette of 30 different shades featured across its model ranges.

The collection already includes the striking Flare Yellow, produced for the LC, and advanced metallic finishes, such as Sonic Silver and Sonic Titanium.

Lexus has also changed the LC’s Adaptive Variable Suspension system control has been changed and according to the brand, the new system is smoother and more responsive.

Lexus has added Active Cornering Assist that ultimately improves the handling on winding roads and corners.

The brake pedal surface shape has been changed to improve the operation feeling and furthermore provides a stable feeling underfoot when changing from the accelerator to the brake pedal.

Lexus has introduced an improved Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) as well as Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) controls to this model, which enhances handling stability.

The Electric Power Steering control was also changed for improved steering feel.

The LC 500 employs a 5.0-litre V8 engine with 351 kW and 540 Nm of torque plus a 10-speed automatic transmission.

It hurdles from a standstill to 100 km/h in less than 4.7 seconds.

The refreshed Lexus LC 500 is backed by a 7-year/105 000km Warranty and Full Maintenance Plan is standard for all petrol Lexus models.

Vehicle service intervals are pegged at every 15 000km, alternatively once a year.
