Good Samaritan from Limpopo rescues horses on farm in Standerton-area

A truck driver of the Sekhukhune district in Limpopo, Mr Nelson Baloyi, was instrumental in helping to extinguish a fire, as well as rescuing horses on a farm.
The incident happened on 16 August at the stables of Ms Melanie Pieterse.
Ms Pieterse posted a request on Facebook in her quest to thank him properly, since she did not get his contact details in all the commotion that afternoon..
The Standerton Advertiser spoke to both Ms Pieterse and Mr Baloyi on Wednesday, 7 October.
Mr Baloyi, who passed through Standerton that day, said his vehicle has three fire extinguishers on board.
The father of four children has been a truck driver for the past six years.
“I have to put food on the table,” he said.
“I stopped when I saw the fire, helped to extinguish the fire and led the horses to safety.”
Ms Pieterse said there were 11 horses in the stables that afternoon. She added that the grass caught fire after the Eskom-line short-circuited.
