VIDEO – Protestors voice frustrations outside Mskukaligwa Muncipality about hindered work opportunities at mines

Originally it was said that the protest was about water and electricity bills, but after the Highvelder spoke to some of the protesters, it was determined that they were dissatisfied with the Executive Mayor who allegedly hinder work opportunities at mines or other companies.

UPDATE: 14 October – 10am

Disgruntled members of the Msukaligwa Community Committee protested outside the Msukaligwa Municipal Office, blocking the entrances to the municipality. 
 
Originally it was said that the protest was about water and electricity bills, but after the Highvelder spoke to some of the protesters, it was determined that they were dissatisfied with the Executive Mayor, Joseph Mkhaliphi, who allegedly hinders work opportunities at mines and other companies.
 
According to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman for the Msukaligwa Municipality, the office of the Executive Mayor were inundated with complaints of individuals who falsely used the name of the municipality and/or the Executive Mayor to solicit work at mines and other companies.
 
Mr Zwane said mid-September that no one was mandated to speak on behalf of the municipality outside the council structures.
 
Ermelo Police are on the scene monitoring the situation.
 
The Highvelder will update readers as soon as more information is available.

Msukaligwa Community Committee gathered outside Msukaligwa Municipality in Ermelo on 14 October.

A large gathering of rowdy protesters said they will officially begin their picket at 9am.

According to Mr Paul Bester Koen, reaction officer of ACSU, members are protesting about water and electricity accounts.

Police are on the scene monitoring the situation carefully.
